The “Image India” slogan virtually became a reality with Indian Association after the visit of Mr. Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat by then. Consequently, the association commenced sponsorship of Ugandan Children under the age of 14 years for the heart operation's done at leading Hospitals in India between 2008 to 2021, 103 surgeries were successful with large support from the Community Associations, Corporates and Individuals.

Similarly in 2022, as part of the Centennial celebrations of the Association, we partnered with Rotary International and Samta Foundation to sponsor 100 Ugandan children for heart operations. So far 58 children have benefited from this partnership and we anticipate continuity to meet the target.

Indian Association Uganda after a pandemic induced gap, resumed its noble humanitarian project of Heart Surgery for children under 14 years of age. The first batch of three kids travelled to India for Surgery on January 20, 2024 accompanied by our Executive Committee Member.  Indian Association Uganda thanks our partners in progress such as  Uganda Airlines for sponsoring  Tickets and Indian High commission for granting free visas to patients and caretakers. 

This is an ongoing project and we expect to continue to help the less fortunate of Uganda who cannot afford life saving surgeries .
